Medical Tourism SEO

Clinics in Turkey compete for patients who are searching from London, Berlin, Amsterdam and the Gulf. The decision is high-value and slow, and almost all of it happens before the first email.

Why medical tourism search is different

A patient researching treatment abroad reads for weeks before contacting anyone. They compare procedures, prices, recovery times, accreditation and aftercare. By the time they send an enquiry, they have already decided on a shortlist — and your site either made that list or it did not.

This means the pages that win are not the ones selling hardest. They are the ones answering the specific question the patient typed, in the language they typed it in, with enough detail that they stop looking.

What I build for clinics

The structure matters more than the design here. Each treatment needs its own page, in each target language, written for that market rather than translated into it.

  • A page per treatment, per language — not one page listing everything
  • Language and country targeting set up properly (hreflang), so the right page reaches the right market
  • Pricing transparency where possible; pages with no price indication lose enquiries
  • Accreditation, surgeon credentials and before/after material presented as trust signals
  • Aftercare, travel and accommodation information — patients rank these higher than clinics expect
  • Enquiry forms that ask for what you need to quote, not for everything

The translation trap

Almost every clinic site I review has the same problem: the English pages are translated from Turkish. The grammar is fine. The search terms are wrong.

A German patient searching for a hair transplant does not use the literal translation of the Turkish phrase. They use the term that circulates in German forums and German-language clinic sites. If your page does not contain that term, it does not appear — no matter how well written it is.

Frequently asked questions

Only the ones you can genuinely support. A language version that is never updated and cannot be answered by your patient coordinators does more harm than good. Start with the market that already sends you the most patients.

In medical tourism, usually yes — at least a range. Patients are comparing across countries and a page with no price indication is often skipped entirely. You can present ranges with clear conditions attached.

Very, in the largest treatment categories. That is why the work starts with finding the specific questions and treatment variations where you can realistically compete, rather than aiming at the broadest term first.
