Yacht Charter SEO

Charter demand is seasonal, the booking window is long, and almost every enquiry begins with a destination search months before the trip. The sites that win are the ones already visible when that search happens.

Search happens before the season, not during it

Travellers plan summer charters in winter. If your content goes live in May, you have missed the research phase entirely — and rankings take months to establish regardless.

This is the single most common mistake I see with charter operators: the site is updated when the season starts. By then the booking decisions have already been influenced.

How charter sites should be structured

Travellers rarely search for your company name. They search for a route, a region, a boat type or a trip length. Each of those is a different page.

  • Destination and route pages — Bodrum, Göcek, Fethiye, the Blue Cruise routes
  • Boat-type pages separated from destination pages, each with real specifications
  • Itinerary content that answers what a week actually looks like
  • Fast-loading galleries — charter sites are image-heavy and usually far too slow on mobile
  • Clear enquiry path: availability, group size, dates, without a twenty-field form
  • Language versions for the markets that actually charter — typically UK, Germany and the Netherlands

Images are the problem and the opportunity

Charter is sold visually, so these sites carry heavy galleries. Almost every one I audit fails Core Web Vitals on mobile because of unoptimised images — and mobile is where most of the initial research happens.

Fixing image delivery is usually the highest-return technical work on a charter site. It is also the least visible, which is why it rarely gets done.

Frequently asked questions

Ideally six months before the booking window opens. Rankings take months to establish, so work that begins as the season starts affects the following year, not the current one.

Yes. Marketplaces bind the customer to the platform, not to you. Your own site is the only place your brand can be searched for directly and where repeat customers return without a commission attached.

Look at where your bookings already come from. For most Turkish coast operators that is English first, then German. Adding a language you cannot service properly creates enquiries you cannot answer.
